the hole of mystery

I was really blown away by the response I got to my new blog! Thank you all so much for trusting me with your precious time and reading it.

As I am new to this, I have been thinking carefully about what sort of blogger I want to be. Above all else I want to give you, my readers, what you want.

It was made extremely clear to me that you all cared about one thing more than anything else that you saw in my first blog post. Was it my skincare routine? No, not one person asked. Is it about the nutritious meals I make myself and my prized pets? No, apparently we would all be fine with kibble. Was I begged to know the source of the beautiful sheer red curtain hanging over my sleeping area? No comment, but that one’s fine because its just a piece of fabric I got for free held up with thumb tacks.

The one thing that has been on your minds the most is the random ass hole in my ceiling (haha). What mysteries does it contain, what is it concealing, how does one venture through it, to discover all of the majesty that is waiting on the other side?!

Well my dear reader, below I will give you all that you want and maybe even more (depending on what you wanted to know in the first place). Enjoy.

There it is! So weird right? It has quickly become Poppy’s favorite place from which to spy on me.

From the front of the house looking back. That’s the guest bed to the right so if you go back to my first blog post you can piece together where we are from that.

I’ll also admit that I left the hole a mystery on purpose because aside from the guest area, the upstairs is not that cute. This is where I have my moving boxes stored and my landlord left some tubes for the river, a bike, and some other stuff that I stowed away up here.

The hole is very safely guarded by a sturdy wooden fence.

But if you’re not in the mood for safety, you can just open the gate!

My landlord explained to me that when he bought the schoolhouse there was a very steep ladder going up to the hole in the middle of the room downstairs. Very interesting and well thought out design concept I’m sure. I do wish could see photos, but I’m pretty sure the way it is now is better for safety and function.

I am vaguely afraid of heights and this was a little scary for me. You’re welcome, dear reader. Please note the little colorful plastic discs on the floor around the perimeter of the hole which you’ll see later.

Harvey gets very stressed out when I go upstairs without him, even just up to the loft. Separation anxiety at its best!

The hole likes to party! This is how I decorated for my bestie Terri’s 30th birthday! Also note that when its cold a cover lives over the hole and the other stairs to contain heat!
